Forest Frolics!

Hello Dear Friends. Are you keeping well? Enjoying your summer/winter (choose whichever applies!)?

I’m back with another highlight of our week at Grandma P’s. One of our favourite places to visit when we are there is Whinlatter Forest Park (have I mentioned this before?).

It’s an excellent place for a day out. There is a mountain biking centre with bike hire, courses and trails to explore. There is a Go Ape with a high ropes course through the trees. There is an excellent children’s play area that includes, amongst a lot of other things, a water play area with Archimedes screws (never seen that anywhere else). There is a cafe and gift shop but most of all there is lots of beautiful forest to explore with lots of different trails to choose from. We tend to choose one of the children’s trails which involves following a map to find posts which, along with some clues, provided the answers to a quiz about wildlife. At the end, if your answers are correct, you can choose from a selection of badges for a prize. The boys have two now each but I think there are eight to choose from so we might be visiting often!

This time we took a picnic too and combined the trip with a visit to the crazy golf at Keswick. The boys had a whale of a time and I would imagine we will be back there again soon. Big J is very keen to do the Go Ape course but I have told him its a “Daddy job”…. think I might get stuck, lol!

Am thinking maybe Cumbria Tourist Information should give me a job!!!! Come back soon for more tourist tips folks!!!
